Title: A Minimum Power-Processing-Stage Fuel-Cell Energy System Based on a Boost-Inverter With a Bidirectional Backup Battery Storage

DOI: https://doi.org/10.1109/TPEL.2010.2086490

The paper presents a power electronic converter (EPC) that is the basis of my doctoral research. Its main objective is to reduce the number of power-processing stages needed to integrate a fuel cell (FC) and a backup battery to supply AC loads.

First, I used the skimming technique in two stages. In the first stage, I read the title, the abstract, the figures, and the tables to quickly decide if the paper was interesting for my research. I wanted to know if it really reduced the number of power-processing stages, if it included experimental results, and how complex the proposed control system.

Then, I read the paper again using skimming together with margin notes. I also wrote down questions that came to my mind while I was reading.

Good job! You selected a highly relevant paper that is clearly connected to your doctoral research, which made your reading purposeful. Your explanation of how you used skimming to evaluate the paper before reading it in detail is clear and well described. The use of margin notes and questions is also an effective active reading strategy that shows critical engagement with the text.
