Unit 1 - Reading Comprehension Strategies Reflection

1. Selected Paper Details: - Title: "Testing and Evaluation of Electric Motors for Traction Applications" - Topic: Electric Vehicle (EV) Powertrains and Test Bench Characterization.

2. Active Reading Strategies Applied:

- Strategy 1: Purpose-Driven Skimg. Before reading the text in detail, I established a clear objective: to identify the key parameters measured in an electric motor test bench for EV applications. I scanned the Abstract, section headings, and figure titles first to understand the general framework before analyzing the technical sections.

- Strategy 2: Active Annotating & Technical Vocabulary Mapping (From "10 Effective Techniques" video) I actively engaged with the text by highlighting specialized terminology (such as "test bench," "torque," "drive cycles," and "powertrain") and defining them in my notes. I also wrote questions in the margins regarding how efficiency maps are generated experimentally under dynamic load conditions.

3. Impact of These Strategies on Comprehension: Applying these active reading techniques made a significant difference. As a non-native English speaker, reading dense technical literature can be intimidating. Having a pre-defined purpose prevented me from feeling overwhelmed by complex grammar, while mapping engineering terms helped me bridge the

Very good work! You clearly identified the paper, its topic, and the two active reading strategies you used. Your explanation of how skimming and annotation helped you understand the technical content is clear and relevant even though you did not complete the final sentence.
