The paper I chose for the homework is: Lu et al., DC-Bias Extraction and Elimination of Three-Phase Dual-Active Bridge via Intelligent DC-Link Sensing, IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, Sep. 2025.

This paper presents a strategy that makes DC to DC three phase Dual Active Bridge type converters more reliable and efficient by preventing transformer saturation with fewer sensors and simpler hardware and control.

To understand it, I used the following strategies: 

  • “Skim through to get an overview” and “make links with other things you read”: By combining these two strategies, I got a general idea of the paper’s content, and its level of complexity. After skimming and making links with previously read papers, I gauged if my current level of knowledge would be enough to understand the strategy presented.
  • Annotate in the margins to summarize and raise questions”: While reading, asking myself questions and annotating them on the margins helped me link the ideas between sections of the paper when I found the answers later in the text. It also helped me check whether the author answers all the questions or some need more explanation or analysis on my part.
